Share our love for racehorses on Valentine’s Day by joining us for the Strong Flavours Catering February Jumps Raceday. We have six cracking contests for you to enjoy with £73.8k in prize-money up for grabs across the card.
Our feature is the Class 3 Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase worth £17.5k. Run over 2m3½f for horses rated between 0-135, this race has been won by some impressive Novice Chasers in the past, including Colorado Doc and Good Man Pat, and a competitive contest can be expected this time around. Elsewhere on the card we have a £14k Class 4 Handicap Chase and the £13k Gentlemen’s League Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle. The Gentleman’s League is an Amateur Riding Association that has worked hard to provide opportunities for amateurs to ride in competitive races all around Europe. These races have taken place in different countries such as Ireland, Italy, Czech Republic, Sweden and France but never in England . . . until today! This is the first race of its kind on an English track and as a founder of the Gentleman’s League, we very much hope to have the top Irish amateur and Grade 1-winning jockey Patrick Mullins join us for the day and a ride, as well as other top amateur riders from all over Europe.
Away from the track, we have a lovely selection of local and national drinks available from our three racecourse bars and bean to cup coffee from the Southdown Stand, which also serves deli-style food. There are catering concessions serving pizzas, burgers and tacos behind the grandstands for you to enjoy, while pies and light refreshments can be purchased from the Paddock Bar and Chasers Bar.
Gates open at 11.45am ahead of the first race at 1.45pm and under 18s race free – it would be great to welcome you along!
