Winter Energy usage and charges check service
Community energy company Ovesco and Lewes Climate Hub are offering free Energy Bill Health Checks at a weekly Friday drop-in clinic to help people understand their bills, get financial support where eligible and find out how to reduce their energy usage
The drop in sessions run each Friday and are open to all. There will also be another session at Lewes House of Friendship on School Hill on the 14th January in addition to one at Southover House that day.
We ask people to bring along a recent gas and/or electricity bill(s) and Ovesco’s Energy Champions and Climate Hub volunteers will be on hand to help understand them and to see if people qualify for a discount or other help and whether there are additional ways to an save further money and energy.
Come along to learn:
* What all the parts of your statement mean
* Are you eligible for the Warm Home Discount?
* What happens if your energy company goes bust
* How to reduce energy usage
This joint initiative between Ovesco Community Energy company and volunteers from Lewes Climate Hub is being supported by Lewes District Council, Lewes Town Council and the Big Energy Saving Network.
Cllr Imogen Makepeace, one of the energy volunteers, says: “With local people facing a rise in fuel bills and cuts in income, we want to do all we can to help people from falling into difficulties. We want these sessions to help our community be sure they are getting the best deal they can from the energy companies. We want to sign-post people in the community to additional help if they are eligible.”
