Philip Grant is best known in Brent for his articles and talks about the local history of the Wembley area. This time his presentation is about a favourite book, its author and Philip’s home town of Mugsborough (not its real name!).
Although written more than a century ago, “The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists” (‘Being the story of twelve months in hell, told by one of the damned, and written down by Robert Tressell’) has themes that still resonate today. It is, in the author’s own description, a ‘story full of human interest and based on the happenings of everyday life’
