A talk by historic buildings consultant, Kit Wedd. The Victorian suburbs are now a familiar part of the British townscape. Once they were building sites on the edges of towns. The often-uniform look is deceptive. Most developments were built a few houses at a time by builders working on tiny margins. Bankruptcy was common. Every worker had his role on a site and had to bring their own tools. The work was dirty, hard and some workers were injured or killed building these now extremely popular houses. Kitt Wed is a well-known expert on the building process and will explain its progress from house plots to completion and sale.
