Everyday Creativity

Creativity + Routine + Community = Better Health 

Commissioned by the East Sussex Public Health Team in January 2021, Everyday Creativity seeks to explore the impact of creative activity on people’s health and wellbeing during lockdown, developing the things that people have been doing to manage their mental health, build resilience and combat social isolation, with everything from music and photography to crafting and cooking.

This work is being led by creative organisations and individuals across East Sussex. Activity throughout 2021 will be co-designed and developed with 5 distinct groups of people: ​
Personal Assistants (PAs) supporting people in the local community:
PA’s that are supporting people in the local community can access support via a creative programme led by Community21; creative researchers at The University of Brighton, The Centre of Arts and Well-being. ​Furloughed and unemployed people:
This project is led by Creative Future  www.creativefuture.org.uk.
Offering a varied programme of artist-led activity including creative writing, photography and life coaching, available for anyone who has been furloughed or currently unemployed.

​Former rough sleepers:
Currently housed in temporary accommodation in Hastings and Eastbourne are working with music and arts organisations Resonate Creative CIC www.resonate.world and Eastbourne Studio Pottery  www.eastbournestudiopottery.com
​Care home residents and their families:
Across the county are accessing sessions led by music organisation Raise Your Voice in Care and visual arts practitioners Painted Ladies and Lucy Groenewoud  www.lucygroenewoud.com
Young people (aged 14-19):
This group activities are being led by a partnership between three Hastings based organisations, Eggtooth, Isolation Station and Home Live Art

We aim to produce and curate a bank of resources based on these interventions, to enable a wider population to benefit in the future.
