Take a one-of-a-kind tour through the rooms and gardens of Charleston, with renowned designer Annie Sloan and Charleston’s Head of Collections, Research and Exhibitions, Dr Darren Clarke. All from the comfort of your own home!
Charleston has long been a huge source of inspiration for Annie; and its hand-painted interiors and unique collection of Bloomsbury art, furniture, textiles and ceramics make it one of the UK’s most important cultural sites.
Charleston has suffered devastating financial losses due to the Covid-19 crisis and still has significant funds to raise to be able to reopen next year. This is your opportunity to support the charity, and take a once in a lifetime tour around the country bolthole of Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant, Virginia Woolf, John Maynard Keynes and their boundary-pushing Bloomsbury group contemporaries.
Annie Sloan will lead the tour, alongside Dr Darren Clarke, each giving their unique expertise on this much-loved artists’ home. Following the tour there will be a Q&A broadcast live from Charleston where you can ask either of them all the questions you might have – be they regarding bringing some Charleston design elements into your own home, or the house’s fascinating past inhabitants.
The event is ticketed in order to support Charleston’s Emergency Appeal, and you will receive a private link via email to view the tour itself and the Q&A shortly before the event takes place. All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to The Charleston Trust, a charity which receives no regular public funding, and relies on income through events such as this to keep going. There will be three donation points, to ensure as many people as possible can afford to join the tour:
£20, £30, £40.
Please pay what you can. The entirety of your ticket will go to Charleston’s Emergency Appeal and the money raised will protect this unique and irreplaceable, part of our history.
