Local Healthwatch across Sussex are getting together to deliver a webinar aimed at anyone with concerns about accessing cancer services during the COVID-19 crisis. This includes but is not limited to cancer patients and those that care for friends and family with cancer.
There will be a panel of clinical experts on hand to share information about cancer services and support services available across the county.
The panel includes:
Dr Alex Mancey-Barratt
Local GP with cancer specialism.
Dr Richard Simcock
Consultant clinical oncologist at the Sussex Cancer Centre.
Scarlett Jinman-Dunt
Oncology Macmillan nurse.
Commenting, Fran McCabe, Chair of Healthwatch Brighton and Hove/John Routledge, Director of Healthwatch East Sussex/ Frances Russell, Chair of Healthwatch West Sussex said:
“Feedback from cancer patients and their families and friends who care for them show there is a great deal of anxiety about how the COVID crisis is impacting access to clinical and support services.
The webinar, organised with our partners across the county, is designed to answer those concerns and provide practical information for those affected by cancer or those caring for them.”
The organisers are encouraging people to submit their questions in advance. It will also be possible for questions to be submitted during the webinar.
In conclusion, Fran McCabe, Chair of Healthwatch Brighton and Hove/John Routledge, Director of Healthwatch East Sussex/ Frances Russell, Chair of Healthwatch West Sussex said:
“We will aim to answer as many questions as possible during the webinar. We will also be producing a summary of the event, as well as giving access to a recording of the webinar.
In addition, Healthwatch Brighton and Hove/ East Sussex/ West Sussex will also be posting information about local cancer services and support on our website.”
