In this one-off seminar we’ll discuss Bernardine Evaristo’s novel “Girl, Woman, Other” and particularly its representation of diversity and multicultural Britain. As well as talking about the different characters and storylines in the book, we’ll think about it’s networked structure, in which the chapters link together via a relationship between two or more characters. What kind of vision of society does this structure allow Evaristo to present? Does it bring individuals and groups closer together or underscore their separation? This will be a “book club” style event of informal discussion, so please come ready to participate with a few thoughts or just a passage that you’d like to discuss.
