Susan Webber Furniture Gallery at the V&A.  Presented by Christopher Chanter.
ASES members free : Non members £8 (strictly by prior arrangement, maximum two lectures per year).
Opened in 2012, the Susan Webber Furniture Gallery at the V&A houses a world-renowned collection of furniture dating from the Middle Ages and including pieces from Britain, Europe, Asia and America. In this lecture we will see pieces of furniture ranging from chairs, stools, tables, bureaux, chests, cabinets and wardrobes, to clocks, mirrors and screens. We will see pieces from Well-known designers such as Thomas Chippendale, Grinling Gibbons, Robert Adam, Eileen Gray, Charles and Ray Eames, and Ron Arad Dixon together with work from lesser known designers.
Christopher has led lectures, study days and workshops. Author of articles on restoration, consultant on restoration to the Georgian Group. Chairman of Historic Buildings Committee, Somerset Archaeology and Natural History Society 1999-2004. Correspondent to the Council of British Archaeology.
