As we head towards November, the nights are starting to draw in and it’s tempting to stay snuggled inside. But there are lots of great events and activities happening across East Sussex next month, so wrap up warm, head out and see what’s on near you.

De La Warr Pavilion

Remember Nature 2025 – Pebble Drawing Workshop, De La Warr Pavilion, 4 November

Join artist Nancy Odufona for a gentle walk along Bexhill Promenade and the beach as you collect pebbles while listening to the sounds of the waves and feeling the wind.

The walk is followed by a workshop where you’ll use oil pastels and watercolours to draw from your chosen pebbles. These drawings will be assembled into a collaborative mural, creating a shared record of the coastline and the experience of the day.

This workshop is part of Remember Nature 2025, a nationwide day of art action to stand up for nature.

And don’t forget Art Sundays, on the first and third Sunday of each month. The free drop-in creative workshops take place from 2pm and are suitable for all ages.

Christmas market decorations

Christmas Fair, Towner, Eastbourne, 7 to 9 November and 14 to 16 November

The Towner Christmas Fair is a must ahead of the festive season.

This year the fair is taking place across two long weekends, showcasing different makers each time. Don’t miss this ultimate pre-Christmas event!

Bridge in walkway East Sussex

Ancient Woodlands Walk, Sheffield Wood, Sheffield Park and Garden, 11 November

Enjoy a guided tour of Sheffield Wood, an ancient woodland that joins up with the Grade I listed garden.

Marvel at the changing colours of the leaves as we move from autumn to winter. Walk among the tall and gnarled tree trunks, which are not only steeped in history but also invaluable to local wildlife.

Calligraphy written

Christmas Calligraphy Workshops, Bateman’s, Burwash, 12 and 13 November

Be inspired for Christmas and explore your own creativity through calligraphy and watercolours.

In these workshops, led by local artist Alina from Creative Feel Designs, you’ll create your own Christmas cards in the cosy surroundings of Bateman’s kitchen. Get familiar with the materials and learn the basic strokes of calligraphy before learning how to add watercolour painting and create Christmas designs to take home on the day.

Observatory - person looking through telescope

Winter Comets & Curry, The Observatory Science Centre, Herstmonceux, 15 November

Join the Observatory team for a memorable informal but informative evening combining comets and curry!

A talk from a guest speaker will be followed by meteor spotting and viewing through the grand, historic telescopes – some of the largest in the country. The evening includes a warming curry and expert guidance on all visible night sky objects.

Swan Lake

Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and Sleeping Beauty, Congress Theatre, Eastbourne, 21 to 23 November

Experience three stunning ballets brought to life by the Imperial Classical Ballet®, each performed with a full, live orchestra.

Enjoy the timeless beauty of Swan Lake, a breathtaking production of The Nutcracker or the dazzling magic of Sleeping Beauty. A perfect pre-Christmas treat!

Stargazing Eastbourne

Stargazing at Helen Garden, King Edwards Parade, Eastbourne, 29 November

Explore the skies with Eastbourne Astronomical Society this winter. Use the society’s telescopes to explore the craters on the moon and hopefully see constellations of the night sky too.

There will be a telescope set up on planet Saturn where visitors will be able to see the rings and cloud bands. Other telescopes will be taking images of The Andromeda Galaxy and the “Seven Sisters”, a blue open cluster of stars.

Stargazing will not go ahead if it rains but we’re hoping for clear skies!

Check out our things to do section for more inspiration on places to visit and details on events and activities taking place county-wide.
