Calling all East Sussex apprentices, training providers and apprentice employers! This year’s Apprentice Graduation Ceremony is taking place next month and you’re invited to attend.

Graduation Ceremony

The commitment and hard work of local apprentices will be celebrated at a special graduation evening.

The East Sussex Apprenticeship Graduation Ceremony will take place at the Winter Garden’s Floral Hall in Eastbourne on Thursday 21 November from 6pm to 8pm.

Apprentices who have, or will have, achieved their apprenticeship between 1 November 2023 and 1 November 2024, and live or work in the local authority area of East Sussex, are eligible to graduate and are invited to this year’s event.

Former apprentices, businesses that employ apprentices, and training providers who deliver apprenticeships are also invited to join the 2024 graduates and celebrate their achievements.

Bring your friends, family and work colleagues along to enjoy a night to remember, with outstanding achievement awards and exciting special guest speakers.

“Fun evening…”

Eleanor Wood, a Practice Manager in Adult Social Care at East Sussex County Council, studied for an Operational/Departmental Manager Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship and attended last year’s graduation event.

“The award evening itself was a fun evening and a great opportunity to hear the difference that apprenticeships had made to peoples’ lives across the different sectors.

“It was a great time to celebrate everyone’s successes!”

Special Awards

The Apprenticeship Graduation Awards acknowledge the contribution of everyone involved in making apprenticeships a success in East Sussex:

  • Overall Contribution to the Business

Nominated by employers, this award celebrates the outstanding contribution an East Sussex apprentice has made to their employer during their apprenticeship.

  • Amazing Colleague/Apprenticeship Employer

This award celebrates the contribution of employees who have either championed apprenticeships within their organisation or have offered exemplary support.

Nominations can be made by apprentices, providers, employers, and employees.

  • Best Progression

Training providers and employers can recognise the exceptional determination and efforts of an apprentice in the achievement of their apprenticeship through challenging times with this award.

  • Tutor/Trainer of the Year

Apprentices and employers are invited to nominate a tutor or trainer who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to support an apprentice(s) during their apprenticeship.

Last year’s winners

Eleanor won last year’s Best Progression Award for the resilience she demonstrated in order to complete her apprenticeship.

“I found studying a challenge however with all the support I received from the training department and my manager I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am so proud of what I have achieved and truly inspired for my next learning journey!”

Gavin Fisher, Chief Executive at the Children’s Respite Trust, received the Amazing Colleague/Apprenticeship Employer Award last year after being nominated by his apprentice, Abi.

“It’s been a privilege to get to work with apprentices over the past few years.

“They’ve bought fresh energy to the organisation and they’ve always been able to offer a different point of view to those of us who have seen things always done a certain way. They’ve also brought new and different skills to the table and at the same time I’ve been able to shape their understanding of the workplace according to our culture and values.

“I’d heartily recommend it to anyone.”
