In the run up to Christmas, support workers at East Sussex County Council have been enjoying taking part in Christmas festivities and activities with clients across the county.

From organising fun crafts activities, to helping clients decorate their Christmas trees, our support workers get involved in many festive activities and seasonal preparations with their clients. Some even help clients with their Christmas shopping!

At the Phoenix Day Centre for older adults in Lewes, a fun afternoon was had by all at a recent crafts session organised to make Christmas posters and masks. Dawn, one of the support workers at the centre, said: “It was great to see the smiles and fun that everyone had.”

But it’s not just at Christmas that our support workers bring cheer to others. Throughout the year, they make a huge difference to the lives of others. This could involve supporting and caring for older adults in their homes or in residential care centres, with the aim of helping them become more independent again following an illness. Or helping adults with learning disabilities to live their lives to the full, for example, by helping them do the shopping or gardening.

If this sounds like something you’d like to do, why not get in touch? If you’re passionate about helping others, working as a support worker could be something you’d find really rewarding.

We are always keen to hear from people with a passion for caring, and East Sussex County Council offer training, support and plenty of opportunities for career progression.

There are a variety of support worker job opportunities currently available, including:
