Look no further for days out this December! We’ve got all your Christmassy needs covered with festive markets, fairs and festivals, as well as chances to meet the man in red.

Here’s a round up of events that you might want to pencil into your diary:

Brighton Art Fair, Lewes – 30 November to 1 December 2019

If you’re quick you’ll just catch the Brighton Art Fair in Lewes on Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December. Held at Lewes Town Hall, the event showcases the work of more than 50 local painters, printmakers, sculptors, textile and mixed media artists and most will have artwork for sale. British Wildlife Photography Awards at Bodiam Castle – 2 December 2019

Throughout December there’s also the chance to catch an exhibition of photography showcasing amazing photographs of British Wildlife. The work of amateur and professional photographers alike is featured and on display in one of the castle’s towers. British Wildlife Awards Exhibition at Bodiam.

Festival of Christmas Trees, Uckfield – 5 to 8 December 2019

Uckfield will once again be getting into the festive spirit with its annual Festival of Christmas Trees. Held at Holy Cross Church, the festival will feature more than 100 Christmas trees decorated by local organisations, schools, charities and individuals. Festive music, crafts and activities for children will also feature and more than 6,000 people are expected to attend. Festival of Christmas Trees.

The Rye Christmas Festival – 7 December 2019

At this family-friendly event you’ll have the chance to meet Father Christmas, watch street performers, enjoy creative workshops and attend Elf Training Academy. Find out more on the Rye Christmas Festival website.

Christmas Harbour Crafter’s Market, Eastbourne – 7 December 2019

This indoor market at the Sovereign Harbour Community Centre will showcase over 50 local artisans. With artwork, jewellery, Stained glass creations, soap and so much more, this is a great opportunity to buy some unique handmade Christmas presents while also supporting local business. A Sussex Christmas, The Keep near Falmer – 11 December 2019

Learn something new about local Christmas traditions from local historian and author Chris Horlock. He will reveal how the people of Sussex celebrated Christmas in the past and they’ll be a Christmas tale or two. The talk at the county’s archive centre costs £5. Joe Stilgoe, Hastings – 15 December

Internationally acclaimed singer, pianist and songwriter, Joe Stilgoe, will be in Hastings on Sunday 15 December for a special festive concert to raise funds for the Hastings International Piano Concerto Group’s educational outreach programme. The concert takes place at St Mary in the Castle and more information is available at Joe Stilgoe Christmas Celebration.

Eastbourne Christmas Market – 19 to 21 December 2019

The Eastbourne Christmas Market is back! Once again it takes place in the heart of the Eastbourne Town Centre, along the pedestrianised precinct of Terminus Road. Visitors are promised traditional Christmas stalls selling locally handmade crafts, Sussex gins, Sussex wines & sparkling, homemade fudge and plenty of sweet treats.
