Looking for great days out this July in East Sussex? There are more local festivals than you can shake a welly at this month, plus walks and markets that are perfect for a sunny day.
Friends of the South Downs Stroll at Hailsham – 2 July
Start July right with a brisk summer walk, organised by Friends of the South Downs. End the trek with a pub lunch at the Yew Tree Inn in Chalvington or take and enjoy a picnic.
Hastings Beer and Music Festival – 4 to 6 July
Another month and another festival in 1066 country. This time Hastings will host its annual Beer and Music Festival, which promises food, ales, wines, ciders and (you guessed it) beers! Over this four day event you’ll also be able to enjoy films and music, all while knowing every penny raised goes to local good causes.
Love Supreme Jazz Festival , Glynde – 5 to 7 July
Enjoy a weekend of music which includes Gladys Knight and Lauryn Hill. At this family-friendly festival, enjoy the kids area, food village and yoga. Hurry, tickets are almost gone!
The Uckfield Festival – 6 to 14 July
This ten-day long festival promises something for everyone. There will be a magic lantern show, a children’s procession, Rudyard Kipling readings and an evening of the music of George Harrison – plus much more.
Bexhill 60s Revolution – 13 July
Celebrate the fashion, the music, the dances, the vehicles and the social history that made the sixties so special. Head on down to the Jubilee Lawns and De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill for this free event.
Polegate Scarecrow Festival – 13 July
You can support SERV SUSSEX and St Wilfrid’s Hospice by seeing some scarecrows, visiting stalls from local businesses, and watching performances by Eastbourne Rock Choir.
Trail: Summer of Seeds, Sheffield Park and Gardens – 20 July to 31 July
A great day for families, this walk will explore how seeds grow into trees while discovering the gardens.
Children’s Urban Beach at Sovereign Harbour Marina, Eastbourne – now until 31 August
You can build sandcastles and enjoy the sand between your toes at a manmade beach in Eastbourne. Open every day between 10am and 5pm. Just make sure to bring buckets and spades!
Rye Country Market – every Friday in July
Stock up on jams, enjoy a slice of cake, buy some crafts and support local businesses while enjoying local produce at Rye Country Market.
