Kerbside recycling has increased by the equivalent of an extra 18,000 full wheelie bins, thanks to East Sussex residents.

The increase was seen after a recycling campaign was led by Eastbourne, Hastings, Rother and Wealden District and Borough Councils and supported by East Sussex County Council. This equates to an extra three per cent of recycling in each bin from December 2015 to March 2016, compared to the previous year. A study showed a quarter of what is thrown in rubbish bins locally could be recycled.
